The complexity of running rail freight operations in network based environments is well known and the area has received a lot of attention within the operations research (O.R) society. Today, several models and algorithms have been developed to support the planning process of rail freight operations, all the way from time tableing and scheduling of engines and crews down to specific car routing in the network. However, a lot of the complexity still remains and operators continue to strive for high asset utilization in an under capacitated network.

In this project, the focus shifts from planning enhancement activities to investigate how the actual customer agreements impact rail freight productivity, still with an O.R-approach, as a cornerstone for price differentiation strategies and customer evaluations.

One important part of my Ph.D studies is to be involved in the teaching actitvities that goes on here at Campus Norrköping. The courses that I am currently involved in are listed below. They can all, in some way or the other, be related to my area of research and the knowledge that I have gained so far in my own education.
